Ghanaian businessman and Chief Executive Officer of Midas Touch, Opoku Oppong Kwabena, widely known as Kobe, has stated that the establishment of Grammy Africa presents a significant opportunity for Ghanaian musicians to win the coveted award.

In an interview, the Tokyo-based entrepreneur argued that hosting an African version of the Grammys will provide Ghanaian musicians with the opportunity to submit more tracks, as the awards will be tailored to the African sector.

He expressed disapproval of the opinion that hosting an African-exclusive Grammys would diminish the honor and prestige associated with the awards.

From a business and opportunity perspective, Kobe noted that bringing the Grammys to Africa would open doors for the hospitality and creative arts industries.

"We can do it. We are making great music. We have great sound, great engineers. It's easy, and it's going to happen eventually. Now that they are introducing the Africa edition, I believe more doors will be opened for our musicians.

"I don't entirely agree with the notion that establishing the Africa Grammys means our music is not good enough. I think the Grammy organization has noticed the rise of Afrobeats and wants to tap into its popularity, so it's not bad. Many businesses and artists will benefit from this," he said.

Kobe joined his father, Frank Anthony Amanfo, in Japan about 15 years ago, and now they are business partners in the popular lounge and dining bar, R2 Supperclub, located in Roppongi, Tokyo.
