UK comedian Eddie Kadi told jokes about his childhood - a time when he had to wake up to sounds of gunshots in the Democratic Republic of the Congo as a result of war.

The comedian made the revelation during a comedy show dubbed, ‘Laugh A Milia’ at the Best Western Premier Hotel in Accra.

Last Friday was the debut edition of ‘Laugh A Milia’, a monthly comedy show organized by BBnZ Live with support from Savanna beer.

He added that he used to sleep with his eyes open, indirectly urging Ghanaians to be appreciative of the peace they have been enjoying over the years.

“…In Congo we couldn’t sleep. How do we sleep? You people don’t know… do you know what our wake-up call was? You will be woken up by one sound alarm ratatata!!! How do you sleep? I was so scared, I couldn’t afford to sleep. I slept with my eyes open. A human being might blink his or her eyes maybe every six seconds but we couldn’t afford to blink. So the point is the Congolese does not blink with eyes. The alternative is that the Congolese blinks with his nose,” he jokingly said.

Eddie Kadi shared the comedy stage with Ghana’s DKB.

Together, they gave the audience a taste of great show as they doled out rib cracking jokes amidst music performances by rappers Gemini and Lil Shaker.

DKB was the first to start the night with his jokes which sent the audience laughing every minute. After him was a performance by Gemini who later introduced Eddie Kadi. The show got more exciting with all two comedians coming on stage with two musicians, Lil Shaker and Gemini to make jokes about their various careers.

DKB subsequently had to rap on stage as an artiste with Eddie Kadi, backing him as his hype man. It was indeed interesting.

The audience cheered them on. GH One’s Amanda Jissih among others was on stage to do some funny but interesting renditions when they were invited by the comedians.

Also on stage to add some fun to the show were Benny Blanco, Nana Aba Anamoah and Sandra Ankobiah.
