After the unexpected but welcome rains on Wednesday 1st May the H.I.M.M.s May Day event kicked off. H.I.M.M.s is a collaboration of women entrepreneurs who support each other and work in partnership to grow their various businesses.

Hatsoff the milliners belong to Amma Feny, Irene Armah owns Inka the jewellers, Mardi Gras the cake and pastry shop is a partnership between siblings Robert Patrick Andoh and Franka Andoh.

Finally MSimps is owned by Mabel Simpson who designs and creates clutches, belts and shoes. The supporting vendor for the day was FMN Naturals a newly established business producing alata samina gel.

Clients came in after the rains, mingled with business owners and enjoyed the ambience of Josie’s Cuppa Cappuccino. To be brides were offered free consultation by Hatsoff for their hats and accessories and others just enjoyed sandwiches, smoothies and slices of Chocolate or Orange Chiffon Cake.

Although this event is described as a fun day, the serious aspect is the benefit that these businesses bring in the merging of their clients and the support and encouragement they offer each other.

H.I.M.M.s can be checked out on Facebook and also has a blog about the issues entrepreneurs face in this environment.

Says Franka Andoh also CEO of Josie’s Cuppa Cappuccino, “As challenging as it is with the energy crisis and other problems, we (entrepreneurs) acknowledge that with challenges come opportunities.”
