H. Kumie Harrison Kumie was born in Ghana, West Africa. His grandfather, Okyerema Kofi Kwaabaa was a great African traditional drummer, and a drum maker in his days. As for his father, he was a contemporary trumpet and guitar player.
So as you can see, H. Kumie already had the music and rhythm in his blood even before he was born. H. Kumie started his music career at a very young age. As a teenager, he formed a band called Gemini 5. With the lack of musical instruments, Gemini 5 soon dissolved. He then joined the famous Ramblers Dance Band of Ghana. After a couple of years with the Ramblers, he joined the Parrots Dance Band lead by Kofi Annei Johnson, where they recorded smash hits like, Madamfopa Beko Agyame and Adamnana.
After a few years with the Parrots, H. Kumie left to join the 4th Dimension Band of Kumasi, which was the first African Band to play Bob Marley's Music (Roots Rock Reggae) when nobody knew who he was. They also recorded their smash hit Yedenampaaba.
After returning from military duties in the Middle East, H. Kumie migrated to the United States. In the late 1990's he recorded his first masterpiece album Hi-life from USA. It was an instant hit around the continental USA, and Europe. Now he's back with full force with his brand new style of music, Afric Reggae. Not only is H. Kumie the lead and background singer, and engineer, but also the executive producer, and writer. All songs were recorded and mixed down in his digital studio.
H. Kumie also opened concerts for big African stars like Fela Kuti, King Sonny Ade, Osibisa, and many, many more.
Afric Reggae touches every human soul. No matter where you came from you can feel the beat and rhythm within your soul. All tracks on this CD have different flavours. There is something for every one. Tracks 6,7,8 and 10, which have the lyrics of his Ghanaian (Ashanti)dialect, is to touch base with his Roots.
Track 6.Adomnyame (God Almighty),is about how we should trust in God for all things are possible with him. Track 7,Sanbra (Come Back) is about love and apology from a husband to a good wife who left home due to immorality by her man. Track 8, (Poor orphan) is a special song for H. Kumie's mom. Track 10, Odo Yewu (Sweet Love) is about a faithful lover telling his love mate not buy into jealous people's lies and fabrications about him. Because all they are trying to do is destroy their relationship. Track 10 also ends this great CD with a BANG.
