The most critical element in music award shows is the performances on the night, and the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards is no different – www.entertainmentgh.com can state
Expectations were high, especially for the performances of some of the major names in Ghanaian music and beyond.
Under a score of 10, www.entertainmentgh.com rates the performances – based on how we saw it. You can agree, disagree but if you have a problem on why we are making such a rating, go and hug a transformer!
Kuami Eugene
The prize for winning the ‘Unsung’ competition was the opportunity to perform at the biggest night of Ghanaian music – and Eugene took full advantage of that chance. He delivered creditably with songs of Amakye Dede and Daddy Lumba and closed it with his own production.
Rating: 6/10
Adina & Akwaboah
These guys have good voices and the organizers got it right choosing them to pay tribute to the legend, Paapa Yankson, who won the Lifetime Achievement Award. Akwaboah had a shaky start but he was able to make amends and was complemented splendidly by Adina.
Rating: 7/10
Kofi Kinaata
He was one of the best performers at the Nominees Jam in Sunyani but he could not replicate the feat. Yes, his entrance with the masquerades was okay but he was flat, looked tired and was not in sync with the Patch Bay Band. It was a pretty bad night for Kinaata.
Rating: 4/10
Becca
Touted as one of the best live performers in the country, Becca’s performance was not grand as expected. Tepid start and an anti-climax with the song, ‘Na Wash’ made her entire performance lukewarm. The high point of her performance was her figure in that body-hugging apparel.

E.L
He was quite a disappointment as much was expected from his stagecraft. His set was mundane and he was yelling all over the place. The selection of his songs were on point but the execution was poor.
Rating: 5/10
Charles Amoah
The legendary burger highlife singer really exhibited what performance and stagecraft was all about. He was energetic but managed to keep his composure in shape. The coordination with his dancers was stellar and he got the audience extremely entertained.
Rating: 10/10
M.anifest
His entry with Kokui was refreshingly different and he was well composed with his performance. He rapped live and was on point. He was also able to draw such admiration and cheers from the audience.
Rating: 7/10
Wulomei
The legendary group was just one of a few performers who got almost everybody on the feet. Even with their age, they got their act in order; voice, coordination and dance skills, all on point. They were really exciting to watch.
Rating: 9/10
Gospel All Stars
Gospel stars hardly fail with live performances and the stars who mounted the stage on the night lived up to the billing once again. The coordination and communication between A-List gospel acts was commendable and they really sang their hearts out.
Rating: 8/10
Stonebwoy
Stonebwoy was the only act that brought something different to his performance. He was arguably the only act that brought a different spectacle to the stage. Entry was memorable and his performance was quite remarkable.
Rating 7/10
Sarkodie
Not totally different from what he did 2 years ago, with his dancers and all, but his composure was well managed and he did well with the live rap. His gesture of allowing Strongman to open his set was a good move
Rating: 7/10
Medikal
Nothing memorable about his act.Same old performance seen in the last couple of months and his entry was not as exciting as expected. Regardless, the crowd jammed to his tunes.

Article Wan
If it was your first time seeing the performance, you’d be wowed but for the many patrons who had seen that performance on several high-profile events – it was the same old routine.
Rating 5/10
TooFan
Grand song, good performance. It was a remarkable performance and the crowd was fixated on the stagecraft. The response from the crowd was telling.
Rating: 8/10
Runtown
Nothing extraordinary. Nothing spectacular, no wow factor. The fact that, the song is well-loved got the crowd excited but he brought nothing to the party.
