Akim Swedru (E/R), May 5, GNA - For using blade to inflict multiple wounds on the face and other parts of the body of a female teacher, who she suspected of flirting with her husband, Ama Gyamfua, a 21-year-old hairdresser at Akim Achiase was sentenced to six months' imprisonment. Gyamfua was also fined one million cedis as compensation to the victim, Miss Millicent Safoah, a 20-year-old Pupil Teacher.

The Prosecutor, Police Inspector Alfred Amegashie, told the court, presided over by Mr George Kingsley Koomson, that on April 10, this year, the convict first lodged a complaint of assault at the Akim Achiase police station against Millicent.

A few minutes later, Millicent showed up at the police station and also reported that she was assaulted by Gyamfua, so both were given medical forms to go to hospital, the court heard.

However, police investigations later revealed that the Gyamfua used blade to inflict multiple injuries on Millicent for allegedly having an affair with her husband.

In another case, the court sentenced a farmer, Kwasi Kwarteng, to 17 years' imprisonment for indecently assaulting an eight-year-old girl at the Akim Ofoase-Kuma market in the Birim North district. The convict reportedly lured the girl to the market under the cover of darkness and repeatedly inserted his fingers into her vagina, the Court was told.
