The multiple-award winning sports station Happy 98.9 FM, and a subsidiary of Global Media Alliance Broadcast Company has launched its 10 years anniversary in Accra, promising new innovation programmes and packages for its listeners and clients.
The radio station since its inception on September 5, 2003 has chalk many successes with many awards, including Radio and Television Personality Awards-Radio Sports Programme of the year 2012, PLB Award for the promotion and organisation of the GLO Premier League, Sports Station of the Year 2005 and 2006, CIMG Radio Programme of the Year 2009 and many more.
Currently, the radio station pamper itself for being Best Sports Station in the country with flagship programmes such as “Anopa Bosuo Sport”, “Ye Pe Ahu”, “Ayekoo”, “News Launch” and many more which continues to win the hearts of many Ghanaians and outside world.
The station is also noted for its brand activities such as Valentine Mass Wedding, Keep Fit Festival, and Independence Day Fun Run that drive the success of the respected sports station.
The much talked about of the station’s most enviable programme in recent times, “The Mass Wedding which has made over 400 couples matrimonial dreams come true by covering all costs for the couples has gained another flavor.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Charles Osei Assibey, sports presenter on the network mentioned that the 10th anniversary Mass Wedding, will take another twist where selected couples will be flown abroad free of charge to have their honey-moon as part of their wedding package.
Mr. Emmanuel Akrumah, General Manager of Happy FM said in an interview that the station has rolled out many programmes and packages over the years, but what has kept the station chalk many successes and stand out of the others are the quality of services it had given to its clients and listeners over the period.
“There are certain things we have achieved, there are others we have not achieved yet, this 10 years milestone is an opportunity for us in Happy FM and we are going to rolled out new innovative programmes for our both clients and listeners.
“We have been fair and balanced in our programmes and our listeners have been the judges,” he said.
Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi, President of Ghana Football Association (GFA), who was the special guest of honor at the launch, commended Happy FM for demonstrating high sense of professionalism and making sports a priority in Ghana over the years.
On his part, the Managing Director of Happy FM, Mr. Ernest Boateng, appealed to the general public not to besiege the station should anything go wrong during broadcasting, but resort to the appropriate quarters to seek redress.
“We are pleading with you not to burn down our buildings if something does not go down well with you, please our doors are always open to negotiation and business,” he said. Below is a line-up of activities for the celebrations slated for September.
