There is an ongoing cruel campaign to generate public hate for Black Stars’ Captain Asamoah Gyan and the mischief seems to be gaining grounds on social media.

Directed by some faceless people, a rather defamatory write-up about the Black Stars’ Captain is being broadcasted on WhatsApp, BBM and other social media outlets, alleging he has a hand in the unfortunate accident involving his friend and music partner, Castro, as well as other accidents.

Unfortunately, a few bloggers and online news sites have picked the hateful messages and republished them in the form of news, further spreading the offensive content.

NEWS-ONE would not repeat the offensive contents of the messages in detail because they border on manslaughter, serial murder and spirituality, and checks showed they were pure fabrications.

A member of Asamoah Gyan’s team has told NEWS-ONE they became aware of the hate campaign only on Tuesday although it started trending on Sunday, a few minutes after it was reported that Castro was involved in an accident.

He called on the public to disregard the horrible messages and rather join hands in prayer and remain hopeful that the worst has not happened to Castro and his friend, Janet, after they went missing on the Volta Lake last Sunday.

The source hinted that an investigation would be launched to find out which person or group of persons were behind the defamatory messages against the Ghana Captain.

“Our main focus now is how to find our friend and brother Castro and Janet. But we have taken notice of the hate agenda just that we would focus our energy on searching for Castro for now. There is a time for everything,” he said.
