Award winning contemporary gospel artiste Cwesi Oteng has said categorically that Herty Borngreat does not deserve the Gospel Artiste of the Year award in the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
Cwesi Oteng made this assertion on one of the new but promising entertainment review programmes on Agoo 103.5 FM ‘Agoo Entertainment Centre’ when the host Kofi De-Aqua asked his views on the Gospel Artiste of the year category.
In answering that question, the “God Dey Bless Me” singer said unequivocally that, he should have won that award considering his performances in the year under review.
According to him, he also didn't understand why he was denied that particular award because among all the artistes in that category, he was the only artiste who was able to proceed to compete in the overall Artiste of Year category, so if there was somebody to win that award, it shouldn't have eluded him because logically it doesn't make sense. “If I am able to qualify to compete in the general Artiste of Year, then how on earth must I be denied the gospel artiste of the year?” Cwesi Oteng asked.
Many pundits have also reechoed a similar thought that the Gospel Artiste award which was given to Herty Borngreat did not make sense. They have said that unless the Board and the Academy say Cwesi Oteng’s inclusion in the overall Artiste of the Year category was a mistake, that award loses its credibility.
