High Life legend Ahoofe Nni Aduro Nii Attuquayefio who is popularly known as Great Alone Man has said that hip life and hip pop in Ghana has no future.
Nii Attuquayefio a.k.a. Great Alone Man said this in an interview with your most authoritative Flex newspaper at Dansoman when this reporter asked him why people with high dignity in the country seems to underrate the music genre hip life and hip pop. Even former President John Agyekum Kufuor said in an interview during Amakye Dede’s Major concert last year December that high life music is the best and that the youth of today should turn to high life music as their music of choice.
The high life legend, Great Alone Man being a composer, a singer and an instrumentalist said that the history of Ghanaian music can only be derived from hi-life music. He said this in respect with the question posed to him by this reporter.
“My son, not that we want to quench or kill the talent of today’s youth but rather we want to advise them to take the right path. It is always good to learn from our elders and to go along with our culture rather than copying from the different world. I believe that Ghana has lots of talent so it is up to us to work on them so that we can also hit the international market. Copying can never send us there. That is why till now; none of the hip life musicians has been able to hit the international market. The world wants to see real talent originally and with that you will be accepted,” Nana Attuquayefio reiterated.
The Great Alone Man who has been in the music industry for the past 36 years and has performed with great bands men such as Snr. Eddie Donkor, Agyemang Badu Opambour Number 2, the late Alhaji K. Frimpong, Paa Bobo and Amakye Dede was a great composer who rubbed shoulders with all these music giants. He sings, composes and plays with their various bands in all their albums.
