From its new inception this year, The Hiplife Music Awards (THMA) will be held in Ghana mid-to late-February.

With the help and support from partners like MUSIGA, GhanaMusic.com, Afric Radio (London), Jongermain.com, Eye Contact Inc. (Brains behind the show) and other partners,? hope THMA will be a successful annual event that will always be on people’s calendars, PDA’s and the likes.

The Hiplife Music Awards were created by Eye Contact Inc. two years which Jon Germain (a TV and radio presenter formerly of Smash TV and Citi FM respectively) is a representative based in Ghana that will reward hiplife musicians who excel in some areas of their categories.

Speaking at the launch, Jon Germain gave a brief history about hiplife music and gave good reasons why hiplife music has been successful in Ghana and abroad.

The Hiplife Music Awards will be based on votes by the public and members of the awards committee.

The only other major difference from The Hiplife Music Awards and other music awards is that the THMA specifically targets only hiplife artistes and also rewards some artistes who excel in Dancehall / Reggae and R&B areas.

A few artistes, producers, managers, radio presenters and media houses like 4x4, Seazfire, Agiecoat, King Luu, Jimmy Quist, Dr. Duncan and more were also there to voice out their opinions.
