Ghanaian director Leila Djansi’s moving Like Cotton Twines will screen at the GNAT Hall (Ho), on Christmas day, an announcement via her official Facebook page reveals. There will be two screenings: 6 pm and 8 pm.

Djansi, perhaps most known for her film Sinking Sands, is alumnus of National Film and Television School, Savannah College of Art and Design. She’s also recipient of several prestigious awards as BAFTA/LA Pan African Film Festival Choice Award, San Diego Black Film Festival, and a worldFest Platinum Award in 2009.

Like Cotton Twines has earned official selection on major film festivals across the world, and was earlier this year, nominated for “Best World Fiction Film” at the Los Angeles Film Festival.

Like Cotton Twines is a moving treatment of the practice of Trokosi in Ghana. On the night, art and craft by victims of Trokosi will be on sale, and proceeds from ticket sales (which go for GHC 10) will go into equipping their training school in Adidome.
