Accra, Aug. 10, GNA -- This year's Homowo festival of the Chiefs and people of Ga State would be celebrated on a low profile since the Former Ga Mantse, Nii Amugi is yet to be buried.

A statement from the Ga Paramount Stool, Dsase on Thursday announced that the celebration of Homowo, which falls on Saturday 12 August 2006, 93should be observed devoid of the usual traditional pomp, street sprinkling of Kpokpoi by our respected Mantsemei and Elders. "This announcement permits and limits the sprinkling of Kpokpoi to and within the confines of the Mantsemei and Elders but not beyond prescribed areas."

The Ga Paramount Stool Dsase, which consists of the four ruling houses of the Ga State and the GaDangme Council, extended their best wishes of the Homowo season to the Government and people of Ghana. "Until God grants us the grace to celebrate fittingly once again at the appropriate time we wish you a happy Homowo festival," the statement said.
