If the name Ruffy Samuel Quansah does not send shivers down your spine, that will be acceptable because that is not the name which made this actor who he is today.

Ghanaians woke up one day only to see a TV commercial from Scancom Ghana limited, operators of Tigo and since then his name changed to “Honey Cuchicuchi” which was on the lips of Ghanaians both the young and the old.

The TV commercial increased his popularity in the acting world so he took advantage of it and produced movies out of the fame with his production house called “Young Father production. Some of his works, promoted him to be nominated in the best actor category in the just ended Ghana Movie Awards which was held at the Conference centre last year December. Though the dude did not win any awards from his efforts, he is currently enjoying from the coffers of UNICEF with a project he is handling in his career as an actor.

As Ghanaians, our joy knew no bounds when we heard the news that came to the office of Flex newspaper last week. This writer then got up close and personal with the Ghanaian born actor to know what the project has to offer the movie industry and the entertainment industry as a whole.

Cuchicuchi as he is affectionately called told this writer in an exclusive interview after his return to Ghana that he traveled to Kenya to study a project he has been given to undertake in both West Africa and East African countries. “The project aims at bringing the entertainment industry of both West Africa and East Africa for a common interest. When this deals goes through successfully, movie producers in Ghana will get to market their movies in some selected East African countries” he told this reporter.

Was he chosen because of the commercial he did on TV some months ago? “I was chosen because I am among the few producers in Ghana who tasted all the three areas in the movie industry, that is production, marketing and distribution. Since I have the experience in these fields, I was a better candidate despite the fact that I am young in the industry” he added.

As part of his studying tour, he met Kenya`s Raila Odinga for talks as well as the minister in charge of youth and sports who are close allies to the project he has on hand. He also added that Ghana can do better like Kenya when we instill strict rules and regulations in our scheme of things as he realized that the Kenyan government does not joke with their arts and entertainment industry.

Though he did not spell out categorically when the project will start active operation both in Ghana and in Kenya, he has started touring some important places in Kenya like the Talent Academy where he has been tasked to scout for talents to be trained especially for the movie industry. He was grateful to Alhaji Sly Tetteh of Liberty Professionals Football Club who has been very instrumental in this project.
