It was an atmosphere of VSOP, music, dance and blend of Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa music icons yesterday, 18th of October 2014, at Accra international Conference Centre; a first of its kind Hennessy Artistry Concert in Ghana.
The annual Hennessy artistry is an innovative musical platform launched worldwide by Hennessy in 2006 to celebrate the vibrant multiculturalism of different music genres.
The concert was no doubt a sold out, as the over 2000 hall capacity was full to the brim, from sexy and bold African ladies and men, from Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa to Europeans and Asians rocking the beat like it was their first time of having such a unique combination of music stars that exhumes originality, creativity, professionalism and Africanism.
Merely entering the event center gives an impression of quality; creativity blend of what awaits the audience, as Hennessy branding was high popping and stress relieving.
The stage mounting was unusual, as it hosted 3 Disc Jockeys (DJ) chaired by DJ Nii Ayi Tagoe of Star FM, while the lightning of the stage was of international standard.
The show proper started 10:40pm against the 8:00pm it was slated for, as the Master of Ceremony (MC) Peace Hyde apologised for the unprecedented delay, which she said was due to a “transformer” that got blown up. It was however not shocking to many, as most events in the country are characterized by not keeping to time it was original slated for.
When the show finally started, it was a blast from the roof tops of the 3 DJs as they made the vast audience forgot they have been sitting idle for a while.
The fun tempo however ascended when MzVee, the ‘tip toe’ crooner hit the stage energetically which her soul touching voice, dance moves and sexy clothing…. She- no doubt- gave a head bowing performance, as she performed her popular songs.
After which Edem, whose performance often portray as a bold and rapperholic extraordinaire- hit the stage in an intriguing style. His delivering in Ewe, Twi and English were heart penetrating, as it took people off their seats, and make them wriggle their waist till his last drop performance.
When the turn off Mafikizolo came, it arrived with ‘swagger-cious’ cultural dance steps, incredible voice. Mafikizolo no doubt performed excellently well as audiences were on their toes from the beginning to the end of their performance. Eyes, mind and soul couldn’t afford to miss a second of their delivery as they perform all their hit songs, and danced to Davido’s ‘Skelewu’.
Then came 4x4 - who also rock the stage, and later VVIP, with their newly adopted member; Reggie Rockstone. Though their performance was brief, it got the audience dancing as they perform their latest release: ‘Selfie’.
The teeming audience however could not be contained to their seat any more -as the show reach it peak- with 2face spitting lyrics from the album of his every green songs like ‘African Queen’ to his new album titled ‘Ascension’.
2face literally took his fans by hand as he took them through the lyrics, meaning and message of each of his track, from ‘Let Somebody Love You’, ‘Jeje’ (Patience) to his advice to audience about avoiding causing chaos during election period.
The security men however struggled, but succeeded to make sure fans didn’t make it to the stage in effort to show their love to the superstars as 2face introduced Wizkid to the stage. The duo performed #DanceGo; their collaboration for the brand Hennessy.
Wizkid later had the stage to himself, when 2face left the stage amidst applause, and screams. Wizkid dazzled the audience with his few dance steps, as well as engaged them as he sang his popular tracks.
The curtain of the show was closed with Wizkid outstanding performance at exactly 2:05.
