2nd of March, 2014 was no doubt a day of joy for the SOS Village Orphanage Home as one of Ghana’s finest media personality Kwabena Anokye Adisi popularly known as Bola Ray celebrated his birthday with the orphans, in the company of Empire Entertainment team and his well wishers.
It would be recalled that Bola Ray in his selfless and humble style of celebrating life has cultivated the habit of donating to the less privilege home for four consecutive years; an act which, according to one of the managers of the home, help in running effectively the orphanage home.
The children after performing a cultural dance for Bola Ray, corporate organisation representatives and other well wishers who made it to the event, also took time out to express their heartfelt thanks to Bola Ray who have made it a point of duty to look after them and support them with money and foodstuffs over the years.
The children however threw some emotion into the air as they articulated, in an impressive approach, their appreciation for Bola Ray’s consistent help to them, and afterwards offered him gifts.
Bola Ray while addressing the children, he encouraged them to be determined to succeed; to stay focused on their education and dare to become the best they can be.
In his words “I believe some of you will be Presidents in the future; some of you will be inventors and great achievers, that’s why you have to face your education and believe success is the only alternative you have”, he said.
He however donated the sum of 2000ghc and foodstuffs to the orphanage. He promised to adopt a house out of the SOS village and make next year visit a much bigger event.
The donation which was also supported by corporate organisations such as Kingdom Books & Stationary, Bel Aqua mineral water, Perfecto noodles, T.T. Brothers, Nero water, and was capped by Zoomlion, which donated an amount of 1000ghc, with a promise of offering scholarships to some of the children.
SOS Children's Villages is active in 133 countries and territories. The variety of this international work is brought together by the umbrella organisation SOS Children's Villages International, which unites all of the autonomous national associations.
Bola Ray also took time to appreciate families and friends such as Mr. and Mrs. Bannerman Quist, Empire staff, Mrs. Ameyaw, Mr. Sheriff & family, Paola of Altis Catholic University of Milan Italy, Ben Owusu the CEO of Express Capital, Accra Academy old boys, Crystal Band-Projects Manager of Empire Group who joined him in donating to the SOS Village.
