Even in a male dominated school at the time, my wife was outstanding, the point Dr. Lawrence Tetteh, founder of the Worldwide Miracle Outreach proudly made to the world, to prove the fact that women can rise to the ranks in a male-dominated society and do exploits despite challenges.
Whilst highlighting the exceptional role women play in society, Dr. Lawrence chipped in the story of how his wife became the first female school prefect in a male dominated school; Accra Academy.
“My wife writes better than I do, Barbara went to Aburi Girls from form 1 to form 5 and for some reason she ended up in Accra Academy as the first girl to become a school prefect. She went to sixth form in Accra Academy and for some reason, the year she went to sixth form was the year they had the biggest intake of girls, so they made a mistake by adding the girls to the boys for the school prefect election and all the boys shouted for the girl and she became the school prefect, that is how Barbara became a school prefect in Accra Academy”, he narrated.
He explained that the subject of women in governance must be treated with caution such that it yields the best results. He highlighted the woman’s role in politics and governance.
“The women should not be too sensitive about the issue but let’s create a platform where we can find a balanced way of solving the situation that seems to be eating into our community. Of course, many countries are doing better now, Rwanda is doing better, Uganda is doing better, you’ll be surprised even Congo is doing better and I think Ghana should do better than South Africa so we can get our women participate fully. If the women get into politics, it makes politics decent…men do things harshly, when women come in, they do things meticulously.
Dr. Tetteh expressed hope in the country being ruled by a female President in the future.
“Lets encourage our women so we can have a balanced society. I’m believing God for us to have a President who is a female soon.
