Hugh Ramopolo Masekela expressed that, the secret to Africa’s unity is teaching the younger ones their history in school. “We are learning the right things for dealing with the outside world but we are not learning about our culture and heritage”.
The world renowned South African trumpeter, flugelhornist, cornetist, composer and singer was in the company of his friend Dr. Robert Young during his visit to the Eezy FM studio at the Capital Mall Building at Avenor.
During an exclusive show on Eezy FM, Dr. Joe Addo hosted Hugh Masekela and Dr. Robert Young to a very insightful and an unwinding 30 minutes show. Hugh Masekela was candid about his opinions on African unity stating that we have been scattered as a society for centuries now. And the biggest fear of the western industrial complex is witnessing us come together admitting that we are the same people.
He said, we (Africans) are more involved in trying to get away from who we are. It is like we don’t want to be Africans.
