A 35-year-old farmer with two wives who could not control his sexual urge and raped two sisters at Adaboreso, near Nsoatre in the Brong Ahafo Region, has found himself in the grip of the law.

Makio Bobi Quarshie has appeared before the Sunyani Circuit Court, presided over by Mr G. H. K. Debrah, on a charge of rape. He pleaded not guilty and will reappear before the court on August 3.

Prosecuting, DSP Alex Yartey Tawiah said the accused who has two wives and a number of children, lives in the same village as the victims and their parents. The two girls are students of a local junior secondary school.

DSP Yartey said on July 7, this year, the accused raped the 17-year-old daughter of Madam Sarah Abekah, who is a 42-year-old farmer, also of Adaboreso, and was cautioned in strong terms by the elders of the village during an arbitration to refrain from such bad acts.

He said despite the warning, Quarshie continued to have illicit affairs secretly with the girl.

According to the prosecutor, at a point in time, the relationship ended on the rocks and the accused, who was not satisfied with this development, decided to go in for the younger sister of his first victim, aged 15.

He said on July 5, this year, Quarshie lured the innocent girl who is a schoolmate of some of his daughters, into his bedroom and forcibly had sex with her.

After the act, Quarshie detained the girl in his room for two days, DSP Tawiah said. When Quarshie released the victim she revealed her ordeal to her parents.

DSP Tawiah said the victim?s mother lodged a complaint with the Women and Juvenile Unit of the Ghana Police Service in Sunyani, leading to the arrest of Quarshie on July 11.

During interrogation, Quarshie was alleged to have admitted the offence
