Hiplife music has kept growing and one of the artistes who is putting up his best and in contributing to the improvement is Thunder (Agradaa), formerly known duo with the household name ABOMOFOO.
Kwame Oduro Asabere Kingsley is a Kumasi-based hiplife artiste and a native of Konongo in the great Ashanti Kingdom with its ruler Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II. He started music way back in 1996 with his colleague Fuma.
The two together as Abomofoo released the album titled ?meda ho ma wo?, which had other tracks including ?yebe A ye ho, to pono mu, and the likes, which topped the music charts across the country. That was in 2001 and was under Frimprince Productions.
In 2002, Agya Kwame Bomofoo, came out solo and with the album ?me buroni? among hits like ?Adwoa Foriwaa, da mmebi, hwehwe mu na yi wo mpena, Ghana montie and the vibes. Most hiplife fans including kids in those times were seen here and there reciting tracks on that particular album, as if they had been subjected to reciting the national anthem.
The ingenuity of Agradaa made him pull out from the duo yet mounted another milestone to form a trio called The Triple O. This was in the year 2005 when OBOMOFOO came out with other popular hiplife artistes OSARAY of ARABA YAA fame and OPAM KOKOROKO and with the Three O?s appeared as TRIPLE O. May be it was not much heard in the capital - Accra. But in other regions, Kumasi topped them all. The album so released by these three could best be described as a bullet-explode in the universe.
The album title ?ASEMFOFORO? had ?Me Wuradze, Obetwani, Akosua Kuma and the ladies? favorite ADEPA, having a kind of Indian-style singing ebbing out slowly but being coated with immense romance for any love season. The album is still enjoying airplay across the country.
Last year December saw this artiste including Kwabena Kwabena, Reggie Zippy, Screw Face and others touring Italy, France, Germany, Holland, Belgium and Austria to boost Ghana?s music and letting people outside the country feel the personalities behind the good voices and lyrics. He noted how the show was well patronized and won cheers from Ghanaians abroad.
The news now is that Obomofoo is in the studios on arrival into the country and working on his fourth album, cementing himself as a solo artiste. He declared that his colleague musicians who form the trio have their voices on the new toast and are all working hard in the studios to release very soon before the end of the year.
According to him, the group would work together again after their solo releases. His new one comes out lately by the end of July this year. Apart from his partly singers as trio, Kwabena Kwabena, Reggie Zippy, Nightmare and Ntensere are also featuring.
