Actor Kwabena Bediako, who featured in the television series ‘Small World’, ‘Sun City’, and movies such as ‘Koofori in London’, ‘Cross My Heart’, among others, has initiated a move to positively affect the lives of over 1,000 needy but brilliant school children across Ghana.
This, he said, formed part of his efforts to give back to the society which had contributed to his successful showbiz career.
He disclosed to BEATWAVES that plans were far advanced to launch ‘Medie Nie’ promotion to raise funds to assist needy but brilliant students and some needy institutions in the country.
He also promised to collaborate with some of the country’s finest music icons to stage series of musical concerts to raise funds for the project.
He disclosed that he would undertake an educational campaign tour to encourage students to learn extra hard to become influential people in society, despite the conditions they found themselves in.
The soft-spoken showbiz icon, who is also one of the sales managers at Vodafone, also declared his intention to establish a Non-Governmental Organization to provide scholarship and free exercise books to needy students nationwide.
Kwabena Bediako, known as IBK, is targeting 1,000 needy but brilliant students nationwide who will benefit from his outfit.
He told BEATWAVES that “I want to help the less-privileged children in acquiring knowledge because knowledge is power and education is the key to success. Education breeds respect, enhances the chances of a better living. Therefore with my contribution the needy can gain the knowledge to live a better”.
Kwabena Bediako, who studied Theatre Arts and Drama at the University of Ghana, discovered his ability to act during his primary school days at Kukurantumi in the Eastern region.
He disclosed that he had started discussions with some selected schools in the country to get a list of needy but brilliant students, adding that the project would take off in the Eastern region with 50 students.
He appealed to individuals and organizations to contribute toward the project to put smiles on the faces of the less privileged in society.
