Ace movie star Agya Koo is in deep waters as a renowned fetish priest in Kumasi has threatened to eliminate him through a curse. Subruku, the fetish priest, thinks Agya Koo and another popular movie star in the movie industry, Akrobeto, made mockery of him in a film.
The film under contention is titled ‘Emmanuel’ and it is in parts one and two. Produced by Paul Adjei, CEO of Paul Gee Films Production, the movie hit the screens about three weeks ago. Subruku has also threatened to deal ruthlessly with Paul Adjei in the spiritual realm for coming out with the movie.
Akokrobeto was a fetish priest who answered to the name ‘Subruku’ in the latest movie. At certain stages of the movie, Akrobeto was called ‘Abam Subruku Toi’ by those that sought spiritual powers from him. Subruku, who is aggrieved, insists Agya Koo, Akokrobeto and Paul Adjeei have used the film to make mockery of his gods.
The fetish priest allegedly stormed the Kejetia offices of Paul Adjei on Monday afternoon. Subruku, who met Paul Adjei’s absence, warned that he would soon deal ruthlessly with the film producer, Agya Koo and Akrobeto in the spiritual realm. He further threatened to drag the aforementioned personalities to the law courts for making mockery of the name of his gods.
When Agya Koo was contacted, he said as far as he was concerned, anything concerning the movie should be handled by the producer. When News-One reached Akrobeto about the death scare, he retorted, “I have done nothing wrong to die.” He said ‘Emmanuel’ as a movie is very educative and entertaining so nobody should read other meanings into it.
Akrobeto said never in any movie had he intentionally played a role to subject someone to public ridicule. He therefore noted that nothing could happen to him in the spiritual realm because he had not offended anyone including Subruku.
CEO of Paul Gee Films Productions, Paul Adjei said he did not hear of any fetish priest by name Subruku before producing the movie. A staunch Christian, Mr. Adjei noted that he was not afraid of Subruku’s threats of eliminating him in the spiritual realm. He said he believed in the God that he served; besides, ‘Emmanuel’ was not used to tarnish the image or make mockery of anyone “therefore nothing can happen to me”.
On what would be his action, if Subruku dragged him to court, he answered, “I will alert my lawyers and battle him in court because the film has been duly registered.”
