Reggae musician Blakk Rasta, born Abubakar Ahmed, says he has more popularity than Ghana’s international afro pop singer, Kojo Antwi, nicknamed ‘Mr. Music Man’.
“I am popular than Kojo Antwi. If you think I am lying, go to google.com and check. If you search my name and that of Kojo Antwi, you will notice that my search rating is far ahead of that of Kojo Antwi. While I am around 1010,000, he is around 140,000,” Blakk said last Saturday during the launch of his seventh album, ‘Born Dread”. Blakk made the statement after he had alleged at the event that some newspapers in Ghana say that he is not popular.
It is however not clear why he chose to compare himself to Kojo Antwi but not any other musician. The statement however did not come as a surprise, considering who it came from. Blakk dropped other bombshells on the night when he pointed out politician Alhaji Said Sinare, among his guests and announced openly that the latter had held a secret marriage ceremony in faraway Egypt.
“This is intended to be secret but I am sorry for letting it out. I apologize,” Blakk added. Interestingly, KOD, the man who is described as Blakk Rasta’s worst enemy, was at the launching ceremony to give him his support. Blakk and KOD had sharp disagreements ahead of last year’s Ghana Music Award.
The 16-track album that was launched has songs as ‘Kwame Nkrumah’, ‘Chufumta’, Sista Lorna’, ‘So Sorry’, ‘Kunkunda’, ‘Bobby’, and Obama In Libya, among others.Present at the ceremony were actress Akofa Ejeani, Bernard Mornah, Alhaji Fuseni, Said Sinare, Hafiz Chogu of Hafred Security, Kyeiwaa, Daddy Bosco, KOD and a number of others.
