Gospel singer Celestine Donkor has clarified that she does not intend to get weight-loss surgery.

According to her, she is healthy enough and would only consider weight-loss procedures if recommended by a doctor.

Speaking in an interview with Doreen Avio on Hitz FM's Daybreak Hitz, she said that being big runs in her family and she takes care of herself by practising healthy living techniques.

Adding to that, she's active and could even run faster than some thin people.

“I am plus-size but very active. I might even overtake a lot of slim people in a marathon. The fatness is in my genes; in my family, we are big.

"I have never had high blood pressure or anything. I do regular check-ups and drink a lot of water, and I have enough rest, so health-wise, I am fine," she said.

She advised others to try healthy living practices rather than go under the knife, except when their weight threatens their health.

“If your health is not at risk or you're not in danger because of your weight, there's a way you can manage a diet and walk and be in shape. Go for that one. But if your weight is a danger to your health, it's okay to go for surgery,” she said.

She encouraged her fans to embrace her as she is, stating that she would not compromise her health to meet unrealistic beauty standards.
