"I am national chief executioner" - Wizard confesses

Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A), Jan. 27, GNA - A 21 year old man stunned on-lookers and members of the local branch of the Assemblies of God Church at Dormaa-Ahenkro in Brong Ahafo at the week-end when he confessed to being a wizard and was in the town to "execute" one of the church members spiritually.

Kwasi Awuah, a native of Duayaw Nkwanta, also in the Region, who had earlier been found deeply asleep in a classroom, told a teeming crowd that he was the "national chief executioner for the witchcraft society of

Ghana" and had been hired by the family of Akyaa, a member of the Church to "execute" her.

Awuah said he "flew" to Dormaa-Ahenkro spiritually and traced the woman to her place of worship but encountered difficulties in carrying out the assignment because of the "impenetrably" powerful prayers of the congregation.

The "chief executioner" said he therefore decided to submit himself to the congregation for deliverance after which he retired to the premises of the local Roman Catholic Primary School to spend the night. Awuah was found the next morning by the head teacher of the school, Mr Amoako Afari-Mintah, who raised the alarm suspecting that he was a thief.

He told a crowd that he inherited the supernatural powers from an uncle when he was five years old and had specialised in assisting colleague witches and wizards to dispose of "too hard preys".

The Reverend Father Alexander Agyapong, in charge of the Dormaa parish of the Catholic Church, later offered prayers for Awuah at his (Awuah's) request and gave him some money with which to travel back to Duayaw-Nkwanta.

Rev. Felix John Yeboah, Pastor in-charge of the Dormaa Assemblies of God Church confirmed the presence of the wizard in the church the previous night, saying the congregation was touched by Awuah's stunning confessions and said prayers for his deliverance.
