Four-time winner of the Radio & Television Personality (RTP) Awards, Kwame Sefa Kayi, has stated he is not interested in receiving the award again.
The Kokrokoo Morning Show host won ‘Personality of The Year’ for the fourth consecutive time this year at the now infamous awards.
Speaking on his show on Accra-based Peace FM this morning, Sefa Kayi said he will not say yes to an RTP nomination in the future.
He was reacting to a congratulatory message from one of his panelists, MP for Ayawaso Wuogon, Emmanuel Agyarko.
According to him, people have started referring to him as the “RTP Mugabe”, a title he is not sure he wants to hold.
“I am open to other awards but not RTP again,” Sefa Kayi said casually.
The awards ceremony, which came off on October 4, is “aimed at recognising and rewarding seasoned Radio and TV personalities, who have contributed their quota towards the development of Ghana’s media landscape."
Stakeholders have complained about this year’s event, saying it was poorly organised.
Meanwhile, business mogul and CEO of EKB records, Kiki Banson, has described the awards as 'bogus and unprofessional.
He has promised to put together a better and 'deserving' award scheme for media professionals next year.
