Former producer of Ghanaian hiplife group, Buk Bak, AgieCoat has disclosed he obtainedg the sole right to the popular song ‘Gonja Barracks’ for GHc 39,000 (390million old cedis).

The former manager of the duo hiplife artistes, revealed to host of K-Entertainment, Kojo Preko Dankwa on Kasapa Fm, he could not recoup the amount he invested in the songs he bought.

According to him, he earned less than Ghc 2,000 from Buk Bak’s popular song ‘Gonja Barracks’.

He indicated that the reason he was unable to meet his target was due to the electronic piracy which had taken over the music industry in the early 2000s.

AgieCoat also added that, he was bent on investing so much into the young talents for the fun of it hence never thought of regaining what he invested into the songs.

“I’m disappointed because I didn’t make money from music… At that time I bought Buk Bak’s ‘Gonja barracks’ song for GHc390million but didn’t get more than GHc20million of what I invested in the song. I invested so much in building the image of my artistes than to look at the business side of their music.

“I didn’t take any money from the shows my artistes were billed to perform… I just gave them the my blessings to go and perform but didn’t take a dime from them.” AgieCoat.

Buk Bak’s ‘Sika Korkor’ which was produced by Agicoat Records in 2002 won three Ghana Music Awards.

Known privately as Nana Akwasi Ansah Mensah, AgieCoat has been in the music industry as a producer with over 20 years experience. He has managed artistes like Kontihene, Bukbak, K K Fosu, Kokoveli, Kwaw Kese and many others.
