Ghanaian rapper, Kwame Yogot
Ghanaian rapper Kwame Yogot has stated that he does not owe anyone an explanation regarding his visit to fellow musician Kuami Eugene after the latter's tragic accident.
His comments come in response to criticism from some Ghanaians who are concerned and curious about whether he visited Kuami Eugene, given their close friendship.
In an interview with Fiifi Pratt on Kingdom FM, Kwame Yogot expressed confusion over why he should publicly announce whether he visited his friend or not.
"Should I announce to the public whether I visited Kuami Eugene or not? I don't see why I need to tell Ghanaians that I went to visit him. Anyone who follows me would have seen the numerous posts I made about him after his accident. I don't need to inform people if I visited Kuami Eugene."
When asked if he visited Kuami Eugene in the hospital, Kwame Yogot sarcastically responded that he did not.
"It is none of Ghanaians' business. I wasn't at the hospital, and even if I did visit him, it wasn't there. I met him at a waakye joint while getting some food. It's Ghanaians who are eager to know if I visited Kuami Eugene or not, but that is none of their business," he told the host.
He added that when Kuami Eugene had the accident, he was initially informed by a friend and later confirmed the news with Kuami Eugene's management.
"You can confirm this with his management. I called several times. In fact, someone called me very early in the morning and informed me about the accident, saying, 'Have you heard that your brother Kuami is involved in an accident?' I immediately went online to confirm. Then, I called the engineer who works with both of us, and he confirmed it was true. They were all at the hospital getting ready to leave. Later, I called back, and he told me they had left. It's a long story; I can't narrate it all here," he explained.
Background
On March 17, 2024, it was widely reported that musician Kuami Eugene was involved in a motor accident near the Achimota Overhead, close to the Achimota Forest in Accra.
He reportedly collided with the back of a tipper truck around 11:30 PM.
