Uncle Ebo Whyte’s Roverman Productions two weeks ago showed their latest play One Million Pounds at the National Theatre.

One Million Pounds, a production interspersed with music, talks about a music group, Jama, made up of four talented Ghanaians who travelled outside the country to participate in a big musical show. Due to their sterling performances, they won the hearts of many but were faced with two big challenges prior to the finals.

The play which seemed to be inspired by the story of ‘Reggie and Bollie’ of X-Factor, focuses on determination and fighting the odds as Kafui, a member of the group stayed resolute regardless.

According to Ebo Whyte, the play was a dedication to the talents exhibited by the duo during their stay in the Britain Got Talent Competition.

“One Million Pounds is a fun play. The inspiration for this play came from the exploit of Reggie and Bollie, the two Ghanaians who competed in Britain Got Talent and made it to the finals.’

For him, though they did not win, they sold what Ghana is made of across the borders of Africa.

“Although they did not win the competition, I believe they made a profound statement about what we have in Ghana. The impact the made on the competition was incredible and it confirms what I have always believed, that we are sitting on gold in Ghana,’ he said.
