Madina-based hip hop sensation, Kirani Ayat has gone haywire over his inability to win the Video of the Year award at the just ended 3 Music Awards.
The official video for Guda, one of Ayat’s flaming records was nominated in the Video of the Year category for the 2nd edition of the 3 Music Awards.
The other videos nominated in the category were Medikal’s How Much remix ft. Sarkodie & Omar Sterling,
Akwaboah’s Hye Me Bo, Joey B – Stables ft. La Même Gang,
M.anifest – Azumah Nelson Flow,
MzVee – Come and See My Moda ft. Yemi Alade,
Shatta Wale – Gringo,
King Promise – Selfish,
Ko-Jo Cue x Shaker – Things We Do 4 Love (Remix) ft. Sarkodie x KiDi and
Trigmatic – Where We Dey Go.
At the awards night, Shatta Wale’s Gringo video was announced as the Music Video of the Year.
Following this announcement, Ayat took to Twitter to express a vehement displeasure at the awards scheme, and apparently intimated that he deserved the award more than Shatta Wale.
He also stated that the scheme’s current format for adjudging winners of some categories is not capable of returning winners who actually deserve it on merit.
Below are the tweets made by Ayat to express his displeasure:
It’s so disappointing. They complain for lack of culture, creativity and representation and when someone does it exceptionally they turn a blind eye and continue with the mediocrity like WTF? Do you want progress or regress ? What are you trying to tell us to do yawa videos or ? https://t.co/S3P3NAj8pL

The “did you vote” argument in some categories is redundant and a tool for this schemes to avoid taking any responsibility for their yawa. Because you could have the greatest content ever but by not having a big fanbase the bigger artist will always win with some mediocre tings.
