Ghanaian Highlife artiste Kwabena Kwabena has said he has no regrets about endorsing a political party with his music.

In an interview on Okay FM on September 9, 2024, the singer stated that he sees nothing wrong with artistes choosing to support political candidates that they like.

He added that he does not regret creating campaign songs for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), as he believed in the candidate's potential to lead the country effectively.

However, Kwabena Kwabena voiced his disappointment with the current state of the country, noting that eight years after the NPP took power, he has not seen the expected development.

“I stated my disappointment about how, eight years down the line, I expected the candidate I supported to develop the country. But unfortunately, I’m not seeing that,” he said.

Despite this, he maintains that supporting a political candidate through music is acceptable if one believes in their leadership capabilities.

Kwabena Kwabena first endorsed Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in 2008 with his song "Number One," which became a campaign anthem for the NPP.

He continued his support in the 2012 and 2016 elections.

However, he has since distanced himself from politics and is currently promoting his new song "Fakye Me" from his upcoming gospel EP, "God of Restoration."
