Ghanaian Afrobeats artiste King Promise has addressed comments made by socialite Efia Odo against Dancehall artiste Stonebwoy during the heat of the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).

Speaking in an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM on September 16, 2024, King Promise defended Efia Odo’s actions, stating that everyone is entitled to their opinions and that Efia was simply expressing her feelings without any malicious intent.

“We all know how Efia is, when she feels a way about something, she goes all out for it. I've known Efia even before I blew up. So it's one of those things, everyone has an opinion. And she put out how she felt and what she thought, and that's really what it was.

“I don't even think she meant any malice. I don't think she meant evil,” she said.

King Promise also shared that he got his own fair share of insults during the brouhaha, noting that he still wakes up to negative comments about himself on the internet.

“Do you know how many times I wake up and see a lot of similar things against me on the Internet, even at that same time?

“It's a competition. Like I said, we are at war. Everyone's trying to win. And I wake up and see a lot of dirty stuff, but… it's not going to derail me,” he added.

What happened?

Ahead of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards earlier in 2024, Efia Odo became an adversary of Stonebwoy after she publicly supported King Promise for the Artiste of the Year award.

On the night of the awards, she was seen sitting with King Promise, but Stonebwoy was ultimately declared the Artiste of the Year.

Following the awards, Efia Odo maintained her belief that King Promise deserved the award over Stonebwoy.

She later however apologised to Stonebwoy.

Stonebwoy finally made peace with her when they met at the Ridge Condos in Kumasi for the All-Black Party, which was attended by many influencers.

In a video circulating online, Efia Odo and Stonebwoy were seen enjoying the event together and later shared a hug.
