I have nothing against Amakye Dede - Oxy FM Boss

Mr. Alfred Kwame Larbi aka Oxygen the CEO of Oxy FM has said he bears no grudge against legendary highlife musician Dan Amakye Dede in the wake of (Amakye) manager’s Isaac Yeboah death.

According to him, he was only investigating the shocking circumstance leading to the death of Mr. Yeboah as a Journalist, following certain concerns expressed by the late manager’s wife, Nana Dokuaa Adobea.

Speaking to Kojo Preko Dankwa on Kasapa Entertainment on Kasapa 102.3FM, Oxygen recently stated that he had a conversation with Isaac Yeboah on Friday, December 31 Night at Odorkor a suburb of Accra to hand over a parcel and money given to him by Kwaku Bonsam to publish the latter’s mother’s funeral in the P&P newspaper and he (Isaac Yeboah) told him he was going to Bunsu only to hear the following day January 1, that Isaac had passed away.

“I was shocked and even didn’t believe it because here was somebody I had seen the previous night, then the following day… January 1 he was dead, how?.

“So two weeks time I informed Nana Kwaku Bonsam about the funeral rites, and we all went together in peace but ...before then, the wife had expressed some concerns, which I thought it was legitimate to investigate; ...that Amakye Dede, who was seen on TV and social media platforms with plaster all over his face and body, had all the scars gone two weeks to the funeral”.

“Secondly, the following Sunday when he went for the thanksgiving service the bandage on his arms were removed which showed a smooth, fresh arms as if nothing had gone wrong and also the fact that he purchased a new car immediately after the death. It was legitimate concern and I as a journalist decided to follow up, so I invited the wife for a discussion”.

Oxygen explained further that he didn’t invite the lady to destroy Amakye Dede but to listen to her concerns, but all effort to get Amakye Dede on his cell phone proved futile.

However, he said during the interview he had a call from his former colleague Mr. George Clifford who was apparently with Amakye Dede, who started attacking him but he advised him (Amakye) of his right to rejoinder.

According to Oxygen, he finally spoke to Amakye Dede who explained issues to him which he (Oxygen) described as “perfect”. He said Amakye told him the car was bought on October 15, 2015, which his late manager Isaac had taken a ride in, with all the documentations.

“Maybe my only crime was pursuing the police to arrest the driver and whether it was true that some substance was found in the car which is only the bodyguard who could be the best witness.”

“So when I was attacked and disgraced during the funeral by Amakye Dede and cohorts, I was escorted off the funeral grounds by a good friend, Micky Darling of Peace FM so, on reaching the vicinity of Abrantie spot where the widow was also holding her funeral, I decided to curse Amakye Dede with water for disgracing me in public.”

“I have nothing against Amakye Dede whose songs I have promoted when I was working with Mega Stars Record Label and as a presenter on the then Top radio. We have been good friends, and I am not sure he even knew it was me he was dealing with because it took ingenuity of Obouba J.A Adofo for me to meet him, so until he apologizes to me I will still carry on with the curse”.

But he, however, agreed to reverse the curse on condition that Amakye Dede will also agree to make peace prevail.

It will be recalled that Mr. Isaac Yeboah, the Managing Editor of P&P newspaper and manager of Veteran High Life singer Amakye Dede, met his untimely death at Nsutam on the Anyinam-Bunso stretch of the Accra-Kumasi road on the eve of the New Year day. The bodyguard sustained various degrees of injuries.
