The issue of trading sex for favors in the creative arts industry came up strongly at this year’s Africa Music Business Summit held in Accra.
Speaking to a cross-section of people in the creative arts industry, the legendary musician, Yvonne Chaka Chaka said she is able to walk with her shoulder up high today because she never gave in to any of the sexual advances made at her when she began her career journey.
“I am here today because my underwear was very tight, it wasn’t loose and I urge you all young ladies to keep your underwear’s tight” she said.
According to her, becoming famous in the creative arts industry does not depend on how ‘loose’ one leaves her panties.
To you young ladies out there, if you want to become famous you do not have to leave your panties loose, let it be tight as possible” she said.
She entreated, young artistes to be what they wanted to be because they have what it takes adding that “when you have what it takes no one will or can take you for a ride”
“You can walk tall when you keep your panties tight and no one will point fingers at you “she said.
Yvonne Chaka Chaka was addressing creative arts industry players at the 5th Africa Music Business Summit dubbed ““Africa music in a global village, leveraging the opportunities” in Accra on Thursday.
