Social media comedienne Jackeline Mensah has revealed that she made Tiktok popular in Ghana.
The young lady gained popularity on social media after she posted a video on a popular video-sharing app, TikTok, mimicking dancehall musician Shatta Wale.
Jackeline Mensah, whose verified Tiktok account has garnered over 200,000 followers, indicated that she does not brainstorm before coming up with her unique creative video concepts.
“I just wake up to a video. I don’t plan. I don’t have a content plan, else it’ll flop. Anything I plan flops, so, I don’t deliberately do it, I just wake up to it and I ‘kill’ it,” she told Kobby Kyei on his YouTube Star talk show.
Before becoming famous on social media, Jackline Mensah disclosed, “I wasn’t active on social media. I just come online, check what’s going on and go back”.
“But then I discovered a platform called Tiktok, so, I was like: ‘People are making videos, why don’t I give it a try?’ Then I decided to give it a try and I had my first viral video after 2 months of joining. So, it gave me more courage to continue,” she added.
Tiktok gained more popularity when the COVID-19 pandemic broke out worldwide.
People resorted to making and sharing videos mimicking others online to ward off boredom because they were indoors most of the time. Popular Ghanaian celebrities such as Lydia Forson, Becca, Jackie Appiah, Nadia Buari, Shatta Wale and Yvonne Nelson among others.
