Ghanaian actor, writer, director, and producer, Eddie Nartey, has revealed that he had to put up with a lot of disappointments within the industry when working on his latest movie, ‘Beautiful Ruins.’

Even though he wouldn’t talk about specific cases, he told NEWS-ONE that the experiences he went through taught him to be “hopeful” in life.

“I just didn’t want to rush on any job. I wanted to do something by myself to prove a point that I can do this directing thing and I can do it better. Well, that’s the sole purpose for this movie. It has gone through a lot of challenges from scripting to post-production. I have had a lot of disappointments on this job more than I have had in my entire life. This movie has taught me about being hopeful every day, which coincidentally happens to be the theme of the movie – ‘To Be Hopeful.’

“It hasn’t been easy. I was short of finances and trust me, I packed the movie down and waited until I was up again and went back to set. One thing is, I decided to do this movie right, no matter how long it will take me. Amazingly, it took me a year to pull it off. I smile whenever I watch the movie because it’s worth the time,” Eddie said ahead of the movie’s premiere.

The movie was premiered Friday, March 18, 2016, at the Silverbird Cinemas in Accra and West Hills Malls. The premiere was attended by Yvonne Nelson, Abdul Salam, Fred Amugi, Selly Galley, Peter Ritchie, Umar Krupp and Too Sweet, among others.

Lead movie stars Christabel Ekeh and John Dumelo were seen at the ceremony.

The new movie highlights the destiny of Abynah, a well-known actress, which changes when she inadvertently kills her boyfriend over cheating. After serving six years in jail with hard labour, she faces rejection by the very industry that once shot her to fame.

The disappointments and health failure retire Abynah to the village where she peacefully awaits death. But hope comes around when a fan of the actress decides to stay close.

The movie is still showing at the cinemas. It features Christabel Ekeh, John Dumelo, Fred Amugi, Eddie Nartey, Selly Galley, Peter Ritchie, Umar Krupp and Selly Galley.
