Popular female rapper Eno Barony has called for the introduction of a 'Female Artiste of the Year' category at the Ghana Music Awards.
In a recent interview on Property FM as reported by graphic.com.gh, she expressed her belief that this new category would significantly benefit women in the music industry.
Eno Barony argued that recognising female talent through a dedicated award would not only provide a much-needed boost but also foster a more inclusive and equitable music environment in the country.
She called for media support in making this category a reality, noting that increased visibility and recognition for female rappers would pave the way for the establishment of the award category.
"That will augment our work and the craft of the females will feel appreciated and I know it’ll come. A lot of females keep coming into the music scene and that category will surely come just that we need the push from the media.
“There should be support for the females especially those in the rap game because the louder they become the more the category will be created for them," Eno Barony stated.
She urged the organisers of the awards to consider her proposal, highlighting its potential to elevate the status of female artistes and enrich the Ghanaian music scene.
