Actor cum politician, John Dumelo, has disclosed his intentions to improve the state of tertiary institutions within the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, should he win the Member of Parliament seat in the forthcoming general elections.
Highlighting his intentions in a video making rounds on the internet, John Dumelo said his priority is to ensure that infrastructural challenges within the various universities are solved.
He has promised to build more hostels and ensure that accommodation fees are affordable for all students.
When quizzed on how he intends to fund such projects, the actor said he would make use of his income and also solicit support from investors.
Here is what ensued between Dumelo and the blogger who interviewed him during the unveiling of Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as the running mate of Mr. John Dramani Mahama.
Interviewer: If you become the MP for Ayawaso West, what is one thing that you will do to impact the lives of the youth, especially the university students?
John Dumelo: I will build more affordable hostel facilities for the university community
Interviewer: Are you going to do this with your money or you will lobby?
John Dumelo: As a businessman, I can do some with my money and also, lobby other investors to come on board.
Meanwhile, Dumelo will be competing with the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP, Lydia Alhassan, in the forthcoming general elections.
