Prince Mackay, Chief Executive Officer of Big Events Ghana, organizers of the Radio Television and Personality Awards (RTP), has said that his biggest event which has been running effectively for eight (8) consecutive years will never fall in the hands of Charterhouse as an event organizing company.

Admitting that challenges are part of every event organizations, Mackay explained that such obstacles can be effectively dealt with when organizers do not give up on their efforts because of the several unjustified criticisms from the public.

According to Mackay, no difficulty will make him hand over the RTP Awards event to the organizers of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs), Charterhouse, to run because section of the public have perceived them to be the only paragon in awards and events organization in Ghana.

“Charterhouse has been bashed severally for organizing the VGMAs poorly. Last year, there was a blackout at the event which made people bash them severely, even this year they were bashed for several mistakes, there will never be a time that generally people will be satisfied. Every organization in general, has its ups and downs. Charterhouse has had problems, so have we, therefore why will I give my event to Charterhouse to organize? We’ve been consistent for eight (8) good years and we are doing so well, we have been improving from time to time. People should expect the best from us this year.” He said in an interview on Hitz FM.

However, he added that, people criticize them when their favourite personalities do not win, which is very normal because it is an award show and at the end of the day the winners may not be everyone’s favourite.

The RTP Awards is intended to recognize and honour radio and television personalities who have showed great endeavors in their fields of work.

Nominations for the awards have been opened from now till 2nd July, 2018 for interested radio and television personalities who have been active from September 2017 to July 2018.

The RTP Awards is set to take place at the Accra International Conference Center in October, 2018.
