Ghanaian Gospel Diva, Evangelist Diana Asamoah says she works by the direction of God Almighty who has been her ultimate director ever since she started singing for more than 20 years.
To her, whatever she has done in her music and evangelism career over the last 2 decades is via God’s direction.
She made this revelation on Power Entertainment on Accra-based Power 97.9 FM on Saturday to promote her new and 9th album, ‘Onyame Tumfo (Most High God).
When host of the programme, Agyemang Prempeh quizzed why she sang on campaign platforms of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) when in opposition and not their opponents the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the ‘Wodamufua’ hitmaker noted she is not a politician.
“I sing for Ghana and not a politician,” she said .
When asked if she would sing for NDC, she remarked, “God directs every move I make. If they [NDC] call me and God directs me to honour it, I will.”
She also took the opportunity to clarify some misconceptions that President Akufo-Addo gave her a new car after he won power.
“I have only one car…I got my car through the grace of God. He [Akufo-Addo] never bought my car for me. My producer [Anane Frimpong] and I came together to buy the car. It was bought through the proceeds of my evangelism and singing,” she revealed.
Diana is close to the ruling New Patriotic (NPP) and even composed a song for president Akufo-Addo prior to the 2016 elections.
Under the NPP government, she has been appointed a Tourism Ambassador – the reason some Ghanaians think she’s aligned to the NPP.
But she says as a citizen of Ghana, she sings for all Ghanaians and not a particular political party.
“I don’t belong to any political party, I’m a Ghanaian,” she told Agyemang when asked about her political affiliation.
She will sing for any political party when they call her but only if God directs her to do so.
