Mark Okraku Mantey, a renowned music producer and CEO of Slip Musci, and now the program director of Hitz FM has parted ways with talented Hi life artiste, Kumi Guitar.

The producer, who has worked with several musicians including Lord Kenya, Daasebra Gyamenah and Oheneba Kissi, said he parted ways with the musician after four years of working together.

According to him, they both agreed to go their separate ways last week and it was on mutual grounds between both parties. Explaining the circumstances under which they parted ways, the producer said his style of carefully grooming and managing an artiste to get his or her full potential seemed to be too slow for the musician.

The ‘Mmaa Time’ hit singer, said, he was not comfortable with his plans to take time to the level he wanted. Mark said the four years they were together was only a “grooming stage” and he believes Kumi Guitar would get even more popular with time.

The Slip Entertainment CEO revealed that he “was marketing Kumi into the corporate market space” and he needed time to learn. “I have moved him from one stage to the other and I hope he will move on with his music career as I have planned to do for him and his career,” he said.

Mark made the announcement on Rhythmz A-Z on Joy FM with Mamavi Owusu-Aboagye last week Saturday. Meanwhile, in a related interview on Pluzz 89.9fm, Kumi Guitar also responded adding that he has earlier met his former boss and that they discussed parting ways before the announcement.

“I am really grateful to Mark Okraku for taking me from nowhere to where I am today. Though I was singing, not many people knew me until Okraku Mantey got hold of me. He has helped me to improve my song writing skills and more but it has come to this stage because I am having some issues that is not helping both us to progress in the business. So though I am hurt, my boss and I agreed” he added.

Will Kumi Guitar sign on to a new record label? Yes was his answer even though he added he will be sorting some family issues out before starting serious work.
