Davido explained that at this stage of his career, he is not focused on shifting away from his roots or adapting heavily to Western sounds. Instead, he is prioritising a style that reflects his identity as an African artiste.
“I won’t say I want to go back home or to Africa, but even with the music I’m making now is very African. The music I’m recording now is very `Davido’ African,” he noted.
He shared that his growth in the global music space has already proven his versatility, making it unnecessary for him to chase Western musical trends.
“We have done it, so I am not really looking to do western sounds,” he added.
