Ghanaian actress and musician Charlotte Derban has announced her decision to go into the streets with her upcoming foundation to support talented hawkers.

A former Face of Vienna City and Miss Ghana 2015 hopeful, Charlotte was once a street hawker. As a result, she is particularly passionate about the plight of children hawkers.

According to her, she is not going back to hawk like she used to do. Rather, she wants to help talented kid hawkers through school the best way she can.

She made the announcement on Wednesday when she premiered her new music video for her single titled, ‘Baby’ on ETV’s Late Night Celebrity Show.

“Having experienced the hazard these kids go through on the street, my management will be launching my foundation in October. I need to go back to the streets, not to hawk but to help see the talented ones through school,” she told host Eddy Blay Jnr, who was touched by her story about how she used to hawk in the streets.

Charlotte has been active in Ghana’s entertainment industry for years. She is an actress, a commercial model and a musician. She has featured in The Island, a TV series which stars Omotola on DSTV and played a supporting role in Office Palava season 5. She also played a supporting role in Every Woman Has A Story which is yet to be aired on DSTV. Her commercial credits include Special Ice Mineral Water, Coca-Cola, Menthox and others.

She has starred in movies such as Shattered Romance, She Prayed, The Wife and Beautiful Ruins among others. She also has two singles of her upcoming debut album and now the new video. The video is her first-ever released music video and is directed by Kaay Difilmer.
