Actor Kofi Adjorlolo has angrily discredited assertions he is worth $800,000.
The veteran in an interview with Joy Prime lost his cool over unpaid jobs he had done for some Ghanaian movie producers, describing their posture as unfair.
According to him, he quit his broadcasting career after 17 years to venture into acting, only for movie producers to engage him without fulfilling their parts of the deal.
What irks him the most is the fact that he is said to be worth $800,000 when in actual fact, he has been starved for years.
“Me! Me! Eight hundred what…?” a seeming frustrated Kofi Adjorlolo fumed.
While stating that many Ghanaian movie producers do not pay actors for their roles in movies, the veteran intimated that a number of actors are still in the business because of the passion they have for it.
He said: “Some of the producers in Ghana here, they should respect themselves...old man like me, they call me to come and work and they can't pay me...”
“About seven producers in this country owe me monies…why? And then I’m sitting at home, I'm hungry, and then when I’m sick too nobody pays attention...Look we have elderly people lying down on their sickbeds and these producers owe them. Actors in Ghana here know what I’m talking about, these producers don’t pay!"
Meanwhile, popular movie producer and director Ola Michael has taken a swipe at Adjorlolo for saying that seven Ghanaian movie producers owe him.
Ola Michael
Ola who described Adjorlolo as a cheat indicated that he [Adjorlolo] never completes his task onset yet always expect producers to pay him in full.
In an interview which was closely monitored by GhanaWeb, the filmmaker attributed Mr Adjorlolo’s latest rant on Television to an experience his production house, Mad House Production, had with him [Adjorlolo].
He said Mr Adjorlolo met his boss at the premises of Mad House to make some demands yet it proved futile due to his inconsistencies.
"...but I want to tell him that I don't owe him a kobo, I don't owe him a pesewa," he noted.
“We [Mad House Production] contracted him [Adjorlolo] on a set, we had a number of days to execute that project but before we started he said his mum had passed on and would like to seek permission midway to go but three people quickly rubbished his claim indicating that Adjorlolo’s mum passed on two years ago and has been using the same excuse over and over...,” Ola explained.
"Now you leave the set without completing your scenes, go for a certain funeral that we didn’t even know was true or not and then call me four days after we're done with the production that you are now available to complete your scenes, who does that?"
“I had to replace him with another person and change the entire script so that it would not appear that he [Adjorlolo] left in the middle of the shoot...so for you to come back and say I owe you is totally out of place...” Ola stressed.
