Former Deputy Minister for Tourism and Creative Arts, Dzifa Gomashie has announced her retirement from the movie industry to focus on her political aspiration as a Member of Parliament (MP).
According to the veteran actress, "I don’t act more. Whatever I do now is either John Manama or the NDC”.
Speaking to the media during the premiere of a new Ghanaian series titled ‘Puzzled’ at the executive theatre in Accra, she narrated she was contacted to act in the new series but recommended Lydia Forson for the role because she (Gomashie) was no longer active.
“I got a call from my niece, Yayra and she said they wanted an actress to play a role. I said I don’t act no more. Whatever I do now is either for John Mahama or the NDC so I recommended Lydia because she is brilliant, talented and opinionated” She revealed.
Dzifa Gomashie started her acting career when she joined the talents theatre company and was the producer of the popular storytelling television series ‘By the fireside’ in the 90’s.
However, she was named the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Arts and Culture in 2013 by former President John Dramani Mahama until 2016 when the NDC lost power to the current government.
However, the experienced artist prefers staying in politics and become MP rather than going back to the acting industry but pledged to do her best in the development of the movie industry.
