I’m suffering from gouty arthritis - Psalm Adjetefio

Veteran actor Psalm Adjetefio has revealed the rationale behind his ‘disappearance’ from the movie scenery in a long while. The acting legend explained that he has for some years now been confronted with several diseases, most outstanding, an illness known as gouty arthritis, which has rendered him almost incapacitated and broken down his acting career.

Recounting the pain and trauma he was subjected to because of the ailment, the acting legend indicated that he was at one point unable to use both his legs for over 3 months and had to depend on the assistance of some benevolent persons to move to and fro the hospital as well as cover his medical bills.

“I have been very sick, I have been hit by a number of diseases. The one quite devastating was the one that I didn’t have the use of my two legs for about three months I was indoors and whenever it became necessary to go to hospital, I had to be carried into a taxi by four men, I have not had it easy at all and they call the disease gouty arthritis.

I tell you, your two legs become useless and it is so painful, I’ve gone through a number of diseases and I never wept but this one, I was crying like a baby”, he told Mikki Osei Berko aka DadaBoat on the After hours show.

He narrated how through his difficult times he was supported by friends from the acting fraternity and other benefactors who helped him cover the medical cost among other things.

“By God’s grace, sometimes I get these small small roles and then of course friends, when it’s extreme, you call a friend or two and then they help and then occasionally somebody will say..…I’ve got this thing here, take. I must say that a lot of friends in the acting fraternity, some have been very supportive. When I was sick, I was on admission at Accra clinic and actors guild when they heard of it they came, they helped with the bill.”

Mr. Ajetefio maintained that his critical heart condition among other things are killing his dreams of reliving his past days as a ‘Taxi Driver’.

“Right now I have been diagnosed that I have an enlarged heart and thankfully its healing, I swallow so many tablets a day and in addition to that too, I might go for surgery to correct certain things that have shifted in the body so that’s the situation I’m in now, so I’m not supposed to do heavy work.”

Psalm Adjetefio became a household name when he featured in the series ‘taxi driver’ alongside Mikki Osei Berko (Master Richard), George Quaye (Aboagye) and others. He has featured in countless number of movies including; ‘Who killed Nancy’, ‘Shadows from the Past’, ‘Stab in the dark’, ‘Tears of Womanhood’ and ‘Adult Only’ among several others.
