Actor Kwaku Manu has stated that he is the first Ghanaian actor to produce and upload movies on YouTube.
In a recent interview with ZionFelix, Kwaku Manu reminisced about his early efforts to bring Ghanaian cinema to the online platform.
He recalled trying to persuade Agya Koo to utilise YouTube during a period when Kumawood’s movie production was declining, although Agya Koo showed little interest at the time.
The actor also revealed that the first movie he uploaded to YouTube was 'Fire House', followed by a series of short skits created specifically for the platform.
He emphasised that he was not selfish in his YouTube venture, noting that he subsequently supported others and even assisted in their productions unexpectedly.
Kwaku Manu also observed that many of his colleagues at that time, were hesitant to embrace new opportunities following the downturn in Kumawood.
He has, however, acknowledged that YouTube has become a significant platform for young people to earn money.
