Contrary to reports that surfaced late last week, one time BET Award nominee and Ghanaian music maestro Kojo Antwi has disclosed he never compared the late BBC broadcaster Komla Dumor to former South African president and freedom fighter Nelson Mandela as well as reggae icon Bob Marley.

The music maestro Kojo Antwi in an interview with www.nydjlive.com stated he was surprised at waking to news of a supposed rebuttal from the political circus slamming him for passing a comment he never made. He continued by saying he believed his comments were completely misinterpreted.

Asked what exactly he said, Kojo Antwi disclosed he was asked how he felt at the news of Komla’s passing and only expressed an emotion. He stated the magnitude of the news of Komla’s passing to him equated that of Bob Marley and Nelson Mandela and not their private achievements or social standing.

“This is the feeling I got when Bob Marley passed away, this is the feeling I got when Lucky Dube passed away, this is the feeling I got when Nelson Mandela passed away. That’s how I can describe what we’ve lost.”

The maestro therefore believed the caption for most online articles he saw might have swayed the attention of many who believed he compared the deceased individuals.
