I recorded ‘Nipa Hunu’ diss song to cause controversy – Bro. Sammy confesses

Ghanaians recently woke up to a video of gospel artiste, Brother Sammy in a live worship singing a song that has caused a stir in the country.

But speaking on the Brunch2Lunch with Zionfelix on Radio Univers in Accra Monday morning, Samuel Opoku as he is known privately revealed that he only released a snippet of the yet-to-be-released song to cause controversy.

The song which contains what many term as ‘harsh’ lyrics has received backlash from a section of Ghanaians with others openly endorsing the content of the song.

“I’ve recorded worship and praise songs but not a controversial song so this is a controversial song for the people. I’m just waiting for te public’s thought on it before I decide whether to release it or not.” he said.

When host of the entertainment program, Zionfelix questioned if he meant the new viral song was purposely recorded to generate controversy, the father of one answered “yes”.

In spite of the numerous backlashes, Bro. Sammy has decided to turn deaf ears as he thinks these same Ghanaians never commented on the numerous worship and praise songs he has released throughout his career.

“When I recorded praise and worship songs, nobody talked about it so I intentionally gave a short piece of this tune to study the public’s reaction.” Bro. Sammy added.

Answering a question on when he will release the full song, the ‘Mebo Wo Din’ hitmaker said he is still waiting for the response of Ghanaians towards the song before taking the next line of action.

An earlier video of a young man singing the same song had gone viral on social media before Bro. Sammy released his version but the gospel minister says he did not copy the young man whose name he gave as John because he, Bro Sammy originally composed the song and his mentee, John shot a video to promote it.
