I used the money I gathered from playing 'shabo' to marry my wife - Broda Sammy

Gospel artiste Broda Sammy has addressed rumours surrounding his marital status and how he funded his marriage.

Speaking on UTV’s UCook with Empress Gifty on July 28, 2024, he was quizzed about his marital status, to which he admitted he was indeed married to someone not based in Ghana.

Although refusing to give any details about his wife, he clarified that he used his own money to marry his wife, explaining that he was doing 'shabo' (quick side jobs) to make money at the time.

“I’m married, no one gave me money to marry. It is my money, that time I was playing ‘shabo’,” he explained.

He firmly denied claims that he married for a visa, stating, “I married because I love her, not because I wanted a visa.

"If I married because of a visa, I would have run away a long time ago. It's real love."
